Tipu Sultan Fort
The Tipu Sultan Fort here is the outcome of the talent of many artists. The fort was raised by Kempegowda in 1537 and was later modified by Haider Ali. Finally, its construction was completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791. The fort flaunts many pillars, carved arches and balconies. There is also a shrine of Lord Ganesha which welcomes many Hindu devotees. Do not miss the art gallery of the fort with displays of historical paintings, photos and carvings.
Bangalore Palace
Bangalore Palace, sprawling over an area of 430-acre, is another historical treasure trove here inspired from England’s Windsor Castle. It was constructed in 1884 in a typical Tudor style. The palace has splendid looking Gothic style windows, woodcarvings and turrets. Here many exhibitions and concerts are organized to give visitors a peep into its history.
Chola Temples
Chola dynasty used to rule Bangalore in the past and left its mark in the form of Chola Temples. These are a group of 1500 years old temples some of which include Old Madiwala Someshwara Temple, Halasuru Someshwara Temple, Domlur Chokkanathaswamy temple, etc.
Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens
For a peaceful escape, a visit to the Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens is must. This is a huge 240 acres park with 1800 species of plants, herbs and trees. Visit here for nature walks amidst heart pleasing winds.
Nandi Hills
Another natural wonder of Bangalore is the Nandi Hills. It is the point from where Rivers Palar and Arkavathi originate. People come here to escape the city crowd and spend a peaceful time at places like Tippu’s Summer Palace and Fort, Horse Way, origins of Palar and Arkavathi rivers, etc.
Cubbon Park
Right in the city centre, Cubbon Park also wins the heart of vacationers with its gorgeous walk ways adorned with nature. The park covers an area of 300 acres land and is home to 6000 trees.
National Gallery of Modern Art
If you are an art lover, then the National Gallery of Modern Art will surely please you. This gallery has over 500 paintings where works of some famous artists like Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ravi Verma, Amrita Shergill and Jamini Roy have been displayed.
